JOB OVERVIEW:

As a Snow School Professional, your primary responsibility is to enhance the skiing experience for our guests. You will be tasked with delivering skiing, snowboarding, and telemark skiing lessons in a professional and comprehensive manner, while also performing various duties to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for our guests. Your interactions will help cultivate a welcoming atmosphere that guests will look forward to experiencing upon their return to Whitewater.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver lessons adhering to the standards set by the CSIA/CASI/CANSI and the Whitewater Snow School Director/Trainers.
  • Assist in organizing group sessions for guests.
  • Familiarize yourself with all Snow School programs, pricing, and schedules.
  • Promote Snow School offerings and staff while present at the resort.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor as outlined in the Whitewater employee handbook while on duty.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude while instructing guests or collaborating with fellow staff members.
  • Ensure that safety remains the top priority during all lessons.
  • Complete all assigned class cards and report cards.
  • When not conducting lessons, assist in other departments, including but not limited to rental services, guest services, and special events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Advocate for sustainable practices in daily operations and planning.
  • Support Whitewater's safety culture by reviewing and updating necessary documentation, including Department Manuals and Employee Handbook.
  • Work towards achieving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help meet organizational objectives.
  • Embrace and promote Whitewater's mission statement and core values.
  • Stay informed about legal standards related to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and occupational health and safety practices.
  • Carry out other related tasks and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Minimum CSIA or CASI level 1 certification (or equivalent), with dues fully paid.
  • Preferred experience working with children.
  • Preferred experience in guest service roles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of personalities.
  • Capability to teach multiple skiing disciplines is advantageous.
  • Ability to instruct in multiple languages is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Note: A Criminal Records Check will be required upon hire.

Additional Note: Snow School Professionals are expected to select a secondary department to work in, as you will be required to perform other related duties as operationally necessary.
