Job Title: Finance Director

Job Summary:

The Yellowknives Dene First Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to join its senior team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial management of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and the Government Chief and Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and YKDFN Finance Policy
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Government Chief and Council, and other stakeholders
  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis
  • Oversee the financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions and other external stakeholders
  • Provide financial guidance and support to departmental program managers

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in finance or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in a senior financial management role
  • Excellent financial analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP and financial software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of First Nations organizations and cultural history, customs, and language is an asset
