About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join the Clinical Laboratory in Bella Bella. As a Medical Technologist, you will work in a team-based environment and under general supervision of the Medical Technologist 3 or other designated personnel performs a variety of routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments within a designated laboratory area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a team-based environment and under general supervision of the Medical Technologist 3 or other designated personnel performs a variety of routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments within a designated laboratory area.
  • Greet patients, collect and/or receive specimens, enter data into a computerized laboratory system, validate and report test results, maintain instruments and prepare solutions and control agents in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Participate in departmental training programs in chemistry, haematology, blood transfusion and other related areas with a view to learning new/existing tests and procedures for use in the Laboratory.

Bella Bella is a beautiful island community off the central coast of British Columbia, 690 km north of Vancouver. It is surrounded by a magical world of channels, inlets and old growth forest. It is home to salmon, orcas, humpbacks, bald eagles and the other denizens of the Pacific Northwest. The climate is mild and the area is a paradise for kayaking, sport fishing, hiking and photography.
