Position Overview

As a Food Service Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our culinary services at Country Grocer Salt Spring Island. This permanent position offers a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week in a dynamic environment.

Work Environment

You will be working in a supermarket/grocery store setting, contributing to a team dedicated to providing excellent customer service and high-quality food preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate dishwashing equipment to maintain cleanliness of dishes, glassware, and utensils.
  • Organize and store dishes in designated areas.
  • Restock condiments and supplies at dining tables and service areas.
  • Manually wash and sanitize dishes and kitchen items.
  • Clean and scrub pots and pans.
  • Package and portion take-out food items.
  • Prepare, heat, and finalize simple food items for service.
  • Assist customers at counters or buffet stations.
  • Restock refrigerators and salad bars as needed.
  • Take and process customer orders efficiently.
  • Utilize manual and electrical appliances for food preparation tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including work surfaces and equipment.
  • Handle and store cleaning supplies safely.
  • Receive and organize supplies in storage areas.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately.
  • Prepare vegetables and fruits for cooking.
  • Operate cash registers and manage sales transactions.
  • Maintain inventory records and assist in reordering supplies.
  • Provide product advice and customer service.
  • Assist in the display and preparation of merchandise for sale.
  • Process various forms of payment from customers.

Physical Requirements
