About the Role

CASA Mental Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team in delivering holistic, culturally-safe mental health services to children, youth, and families. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with external supports to provide high-quality trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families
  • Help caregivers with children who have exceptional needs build specialized parenting skills
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services, and other professionals involved with the child and their family
  • Coordinate consultation with other therapists or external partners as appropriate
  • Supervise and/or precept student placements
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy, or a bachelor's degree in social work or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences, with a minimum of three years of related experience in an educational or mental health setting
  • Active registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions
Conditions of Employment

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check
  • Be able to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training
  • Have the physical ability to perform all interventions
