Position Overview:

The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and submission of Sales and Excise tax returns for both Canadian and US jurisdictions. This role involves engaging in tax research, audits, and various departmental initiatives. This is a full-time role with the possibility of Hybrid work arrangements following the completion of necessary training.

Preferred locations for the successful candidate include Richmond, BC, Calgary, AB, or Milton, ON.

Compensation: Base salary of $55,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file Sales and Excise tax returns for both the U.S. and Canada.
  • Handle the preparation and filing of property tax returns in the U.S.
  • Create tax working papers and reconciliations while addressing any discrepancies.
  • Provide tax and audit assistance to warehouses across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Prepare and submit requests for tax payments.
  • Conduct necessary tax research and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with warehouse and corporate teams.
  • Actively seek opportunities for process enhancements, data management improvements, and other efficiencies.
  • Participate in various projects within the Tax Department as assigned.
  • Potential travel within Canada and the U.S. may be required.
