BDO Canada is seeking an experienced Risk Advisory Services Manager to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our Risk Advisory Services practice, you will play a critical role in managing the practice, assisting with business development, mandate delivery, and overall practice development.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice Management
- Manage the Vancouver-based Risk Advisory Services practice, ensuring effective team management and client satisfaction.
- Act as a coach and mentor to team members, providing guidance and support to maximize their potential.
- Assist with defining resourcing needs and participate in hiring team resources.
- Business Development
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Risk Advisory Services Vancouver & West region strategy.
- Develop business opportunities and contribute to business development and sales initiatives.
- Mandate Delivery
- Establish strong relationships with clients at all levels of experience, including leadership.
- Take a leadership and collaborative role in maintaining a working atmosphere that promotes learning, participates in group events, and assists in building the team culture/environment.
- Manage teams in executing on various risk management, internal audit, and other Risk Advisory Services engagements.
- Manage engagements working closely with Risk Advisory Services team members, ensuring quality mandate delivery to clients - on budget, on time, and with quality.
- Assist with the development of methodologies, tools, and templates.
Requirements
- Technical Experience
- Deep experience in performing internal audit (financial, operational, and value-for-money), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) quality assessments, enterprise risk management, regulatory, and internal controls over financial reporting (SOX and NI engagements and providing related deliverables).
- Deep understanding of IIA standards.
- Certification in one or both of the following: CPA and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
- Communication and Collaboration
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate security concepts to different audiences.
- Build positive working relationships with clients and identify improvements for future engagements.
- Demonstrate managerial skills in working with high-performing teams.
- You grow your expertise through learning and professional development.
- Your Background
- You have completed a bachelor's degree in business administration or in a related field.
- You have a CPA or a CIA.
- You have 7 years or more of professional experience in a similar function within a professional services environment.
- You can prioritize workload based on priorities and have the flexibility to manage.
- You display exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and presentation skills for internal/external purposes.
- You are focused on goals, results, and clients.
