Medical Office Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our Clinical Services team at Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately enter orders into Power Chart and communicate with nursing staff for timely completion.
- Transcribe medication orders and document them in the patient's Medication Record (MARS).
- Complete requisitions for testing and communicate with physicians to clarify orders.
- Document physician orders in patient care plans and enter referrals orders in Power Chart.
- Fill out requisitions and fax them to hospitals or doctor's offices for appointments.
- Accurately document patient care plans and obtain consents as required for tests.
- Provide excellent communication with physicians, nurses, patients, family, and support staff.
- Answer phone calls and administer scheduling for ambulance transfers.
- Assist patients with wheelchairs and call in staff to cover sick time.
- Order supplies and maintain charts.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Medical Office Assistant (1 year program certificate) or equivalent.
- Medical terminology required.
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to promote open communication and relationships amongst departments and staff.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
- Salary per the Non-Union Salary Schedule ($26.06 per hour to $30.44 per hour).
