Job Summary
The Calgary Zoo is seeking a skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in supporting our pastry preparation and food service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver food service to meet the requirements of catering events and concession outlets.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to ensure exceptional culinary experiences.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to company health regulations and safety protocols.
- Support other kitchen positions as needed, including banquet food preparation and dishwashing.
- Adhere to policies and procedures regarding sanitation and food handling.
- Comply with the Calgary Zoo's health and safety program.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in a culinary environment.
- Alberta Food Safety Training certification.
- Class 5 Driver's License and ability to operate golf carts and 1-ton panel trucks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Working Conditions
- Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), walking, and standing for long periods.
- Exposure to hot and cold elements in the kitchen.
- Periodical exposure outside the kitchen on zoo grounds.
- Consistent exposure to flora and fauna on zoo grounds.
