Position Overview:

Trulioo is on the lookout for a highly driven and talented Product & Privacy Counsel to join our esteemed Legal Team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Privacy & Data Protection, this role is pivotal in Trulioo's global privacy strategy, providing essential guidance on privacy and data protection to bolster our suite of identity verification offerings. This position is available for remote work within Canada for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough privacy assessments of products, vendors, and internal initiatives involving personal data processing.
  • Advise Product & Engineering teams and other relevant departments on privacy and data protection obligations related to the development of Trulioo's offerings.
  • Support the Commercial Legal Team with privacy and data protection considerations in customer and supplier agreements, including the creation of templates, training sessions, and direct negotiations on complex privacy matters.
  • Stay informed on global privacy laws and regulatory trends, as well as industry best practices.
  • Maintain and revise internal and external privacy and data protection policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assist with privacy audits and assessments, respond to customer privacy inquiries, and address other privacy-related questions from stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the ongoing management and operation of Trulioo's Global Privacy Program.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • J.D. or LL.B. degree (or equivalent).
  • 2-8 years of experience in privacy law, either in a leading law firm or in-house, with familiarity with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc.).
  • Experience in business practices and product counseling within the technology sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts while identifying critical issues.
  • A keen interest in understanding the business, associated technologies, and emerging legal areas, with a collaborative approach to working with business teams.
  • IAPP certification (CIPP/E/US/C) is a plus.
