About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team at Teck Resources Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our heavy equipment and process systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) plans for heavy equipment and process systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent equipment failures
  • Work with suppliers to determine requirements for warranty and maintenance services
  • Coordinate with skilled trades to understand failure modes of components and implement preventive maintenance strategies
  • Project manage maintenance projects related to plant, mine, and maintenance expansions and modifications
Requirements
  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical, and operational personnel
  • Willingness to work outdoors and operate vehicles in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with reliability tools (FMECA, FMEA, RCM, RCA, Pareto Graph, Jack-Knife Diagrams) would be an asset
