As a Lead Backend Engineer within the R&D's Platform Foundation team, you will be engaged at the heart of the Coveo PlatformTM. The mission of the Platform Foundation team is to facilitate smooth and straightforward software delivery by offering foundational tools, standards, and pathways to guarantee consistency, compliance, and innovation across various services.
Since teams are responsible for their services and infrastructure, you will encounter challenges that encompass software development and cloud infrastructure management in AWS. The Platform Foundation Team serves as a benchmark for microservice development within the organization. Consequently, you will collaborate closely with diverse development teams to provide expertise and guidance as they construct the strategic pillars of our technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the reference libraries and tools for microservices utilized throughout the R&D department. Oversee one of Coveo's most vital services: the Internet-facing entry point of our APIs. Offer support and direction to service teams. Act as a liaison between our cloud infrastructure teams and developers to convey ideas and feedback on enhancing our platform and the developer experience. Monitor the health and performance of our systems. Engage hands-on with every aspect of the development lifecycle, from design to production operations.Exciting Projects:
Golden path initiative: enhancing and standardizing our software development practices. Service discovery overhaul: exploring service mesh with the infrastructure team.Required Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in backend development within a cloud environment (Java / Spring Boot preferred, AWS is a plus). Proven experience in creating reusable code and working on large systems with complex infrastructure and/or a substantial user base. Exceptional resourcefulness and a growth-oriented mindset.Preferred Skills or Willingness to Learn:
Familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes. Experience with CI systems such as Github Actions or similar. Background with open-source libraries.
