About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team at G Star Homes Inc. as a key member of our construction crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit detailed estimates and quotations for drywall installation projects.
  • Train and mentor apprentices in the art of drywall taping and finishing.
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and ensure a durable finish.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation, including cutting and fitting drywall sheets.
  • Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, ensuring a level and secure installation.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to create a seamless finish.
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
  • Estimate costs and materials for drywall installation projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work in a fast-paced construction environment with tight deadlines and physically demanding tasks.
  • Stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and kneel to perform tasks.
  • Handle heavy loads and work in dusty conditions.
  • Work under pressure to meet project deadlines and ensure quality results.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Steel-toed safety boots and other personal protective equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Language and Work Hours
  • English language proficiency.
  • 30 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
