Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable Wind Energy Analyst to join our dynamic Renewable Resource Assessment Team. This role is pivotal in supporting our clients with comprehensive data analysis, meteorological modeling, project design, and energy modeling for both existing and proposed utility-scale wind energy initiatives across North America. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for technical data analysis and renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with field staff and technical teams to formulate meteorological deployment strategies.
- Conduct thorough analysis of meteorological and production data utilizing proprietary scripts and software tools.
- Implement wind flow modeling through various methodologies, including CFD and Meso-scale techniques.
- Perform wind resource calculations and assess facility performance based on technological and climatic factors.
- Calculate uncertainty bounds via statistical analysis of measurements and models.
- Evaluate renewable energy technologies to determine optimal economic viability.
- Assess the performance metrics of operational wind farms.
- Conduct shadow flicker and noise emission assessments.
- Optimize turbine selection and layout to minimize energy costs and project risks.
- Execute climate suitability calculations for turbine load and longevity assessments.
- Organize and document geospatial data, generating maps and performing calculations using GIS software.
- Engage in research and process development aimed at enhancing energy assessment methodologies and service offerings.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the wind energy sector or meteorology.
- A completed undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, meteorology, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Matlab and Python, is advantageous.
- Experience in evaluating meteorological phenomena is beneficial.
- Familiarity with wind flow modeling software, such as Meteodyn, is a plus.
- A pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset towards problem-solving.
- A commitment to improving workflow processes while balancing standardization and efficiency.
- Strong work ethic and effective communication skills for client and team interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote).
- Ability to independently manage work schedules and responsibilities with prompt turnaround times.
