Role Summary
As a Plumber, you will collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance team to perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including the installation, modification, repair, and testing of plumbing systems and equipment, adhering to local and provincial building codes and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Plumber, Class B Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C.
- Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section.
- A minimum of two years of recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Physical capability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Organizational skills to manage work effectively.
- Competence in operating relevant equipment.
Responsibilities
- Review work requests and consult with supervisors regarding specifications and project requirements; interpret blueprints and specifications to determine necessary materials and equipment.
- Prepare for work projects by conducting operational and safety risk assessments, coordinating schedules with departments, and gathering necessary supplies and tools.
- Install and repair plumbing systems using techniques such as bolting, soldering, and caulking.
- Repair or replace components such as pipes, valves, and fixtures through methods including cutting, bending, threading, and assembly.
- Execute the plumbing preventative maintenance program by inspecting systems and fixtures for repair needs and compliance with applicable codes.
- Inspect and test various cross connection control devices using specialized equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and tools; complete related documentation and recommend purchases as needed.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair natural gas lines and appliances in accordance with safety regulations.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
