Position Overview: We are seeking a Child Care Supervisor for our Infant Toddler and 3-5 programs. This role is pivotal in cultivating a positive community atmosphere that upholds professional standards while delivering top-notch child care services.

The Supervisor will oversee the execution of high-quality child care programs, manage daily operations, and ensure the well-being of all children by creating a safe, joyful, and healthy environment. Collaboration with the IT/3-5 Child Care Manager and team members is essential to align with Parkgate Society's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan, while adhering to provincial licensing regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage daily operations of the programs, including staffing, performance evaluation, programming, and facility oversight.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality services that comply with Provincial Licensing Legislation and Parkgate Society's standards.
  • Supervise the safety and welfare of children in the programs.
  • Recognize and address the unique needs of each child, employing developmentally appropriate teaching and behavior management techniques.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that foster children's creativity and support their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
  • Lead the team and actively participate in the care of children.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, staff, and parents/caregivers.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and document the outcomes.
  • Engage in daily routines and activities as necessary.
  • Review and adjust daily and weekly program plans to include a balance of indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual activities.
  • Collaborate with the IT/3-5 Child Care Manager and peers to evaluate the program annually and provide regular reports.
  • Prioritize staff health and well-being, ensuring a balanced work-life environment and opportunities for professional growth while maintaining high-quality child care.
  • Provide financial information to the IT/3-5 Child Care Manager and Finance as needed.
  • Encourage a culture of openness and professionalism, fostering respectful and constructive conversations.
  • Ensure respectful and confidential communication with parents/legal guardians and caregivers.
  • Handle administrative tasks efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
  • Proven supervisory or management experience in a dynamic child care setting.
  • Strong operational skills, with an understanding of systems and processes that benefit the organization and community.
  • Respected leader with a track record of achieving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • ECE certification and a commitment to safety.
  • Experience in effective fiscal management practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Physically capable of engaging in child care activities and working directly with children and staff.
