Position Overview

Safe. Reliable. Esteemed. Reporting to the Operations Manager or their designate, the Project Coordinator is a vital contributor to the successful execution of projects. This engaging role emphasizes collaboration within the project management team to develop and uphold schedules, oversee labor, equipment, subcontractors, materials, client relations, contract management, project controls, change management, and budgeting. This position is based in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to generate Daily Construction Reports for approval and submission to the Construction Manager.
  • Assist the Project Manager in creating project Purchase Order requisitions, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to assess monthly quantities for Consultant/Owner approval regarding contract progress estimates and reconcile subcontractor and materials progress estimates.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of project budgets, cost reports, and revenue forecasts.
  • Provide guidance to Aecon employees, vendors, foremen, trades, superintendents, and subcontractors, fostering buy-in for new ideas and solutions. Facilitate meetings and lead discussions with clear objectives.
  • Coordinate activities related to regulatory compliance and provide project management status updates to clients. Address inquiries from external stakeholders and manage responses.
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule as required by the Construction Manager.
  • Exemplify adherence to Aecon's corporate health and safety program and quality control plans.
  • Prepare work schedules and coordinate project personnel.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of combined experience in civil construction within a project execution capacity.
  • Willingness to engage in rotational work as necessary.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong time management and task prioritization abilities.
  • Self-driven with effective organizational skills.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedules when required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team with a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to work away from home for extended periods.
  • Position requires travel throughout the region.
  • Valid driver's license is necessary.
