ABOUT THE POSITION

The Indigenous Community Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing our micro-grant and community initiatives tailored for Indigenous populations in northern Canada. This position is pivotal in ensuring that our efforts yield significant benefits for the communities we engage with.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in formulating and executing strategies to identify, assess, and select micro-grant beneficiaries that resonate with our organizational mission and principles.
  • Establish and nurture robust connections with Indigenous community leaders, youth, and Elders.
  • Oversee the comprehensive administration of micro-grant programs, encompassing application evaluations, award decisions, fund distribution, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Regularly assess the impact of our micro-grants and provide support to grantees in navigating challenges.
  • Promote Cuso International's initiatives, micro-grant opportunities, and related programs.
  • Create opportunities for grantees and Indigenous organizations, as well as youth groups, to collaborate and share insights.

KEY COLLABORATIONS

  • VIDEA, an Indigenous and youth-led international organization collaborating with Cuso.
  • Various Indigenous organizations and youth groups.
  • Direct supervisor and other essential personnel (finance, communications, etc.) at the Cuso Central Office.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong community connections.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for supporting Indigenous youth in community-driven projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate and train effectively.
  • Proven capacity to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with a proactive approach.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and teams to adopt innovative perspectives.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Cuso International's objectives and development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in French and/or knowledge of a specific Indigenous language.
