Job Summary

The Lafarge Southern Alberta and greater Calgary area is seeking a skilled Concrete Batch Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our concrete batch plants.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Workplace Environment:

  • Operate a concrete batch plant using required training, experience, and knowledge to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with site documentation and plant staff to maintain a safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to ensure plant reliability.

Plant Improvement Projects, Repairs, Maintenance/Service, and Troubleshooting:

  • Work with management and plant lead hands to maintain plant reliability and report any issues.
  • Conduct mechanical and technical troubleshooting and diagnoses to resolve plant operational problems.

Relationships with Others:

  • Collaborate with management and plant staff to complete projects, repairs, maintenance/service, and troubleshoot plant functions.
  • Work with and/or lead subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Work closely with plant staff as a team to achieve common goals.

Dimensions:

  • Report to GCA plant management and the operations support manager.
  • Work with 15 co-workers, subcontractors, and maintenance workers.
  • Contribute to + m3 of ready-mix production per year from 5 plants.
  • Wages negotiable upon interview.
  • 2nd shift, flexible work schedule required.
  • All training provided.
  • Union setting.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Active Class 5 driver's license, minimum, with a required drivers abstract upon employment offer.

Experience & Skill Set:

  • Minimum 2 years of construction materials plant operator experience or greater.
  • Competent with computers and electronic PC-based systems.
  • Safety-oriented, motivated, efficient, and able to work independently.
  • Equipment operator experience an asset.
  • Current active safety tickets an asset but not required.
  • Flexible on availability and willingness to perform all required tasks.

Additional Requirements:

A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing, and a criminal record check may be required as part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees.
