Job Summary

The Lafarge Southern Alberta and greater Calgary area is seeking a skilled Concrete Batch Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our concrete batch plants.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Workplace Environment:

  • Safely operate a concrete batch plant using required training, experience, and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with site documentation and plant staff to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in plant improvement projects, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Plant Improvement Projects, Repairs, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting:

  • Report to management and work with maintenance and plant staff to maintain plant reliability.
  • Conduct mechanical and technical troubleshooting and diagnoses.

Relationships with Others:

  • Report to management and work with plant lead hands to complete projects and troubleshoot plant functions.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
  • Work closely with plant staff as a team.

Dimensions:

  • Report to GCA plant management and operations support manager.
  • Work with 15 co-workers, subcontractors, and maintenance workers.
  • Participate in ready-mix production of over 1 million cubic meters per year from 5 plants.
  • Negotiable wages upon interview.
  • 2nd shift work schedule with flexibility to fill daily vacancies.
  • All training provided.
  • Union setting.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Active Class 5 driver's license with a minimum drivers abstract required upon employment offer.

Experience & Skill Set:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a construction materials plant operator or greater.
  • Competent with computers and electronic PC-based systems.
  • Safety-oriented, motivated, efficient, and able to work independently.
  • Equipment operator experience an asset.
  • Current active safety tickets an asset but not required.
  • Flexible availability and willingness to perform all required tasks.

A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required as part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees.
