Senior Animal Care Technician, Experimental Research

Join the BC Cancer Research Centre as a Senior Animal Care Technician within the Experimental Therapeutics team at Bally Lab.
Position Overview:
- Oversee team members, organize schedules, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Conduct surgical procedures, collect blood samples, perform implantations, administer injections, and gather tissue samples.
- Establish and refine protocols for animal care.
- Assess animal well-being and manage the health of the colony.
- Deliver training and orientation for staff and researchers utilizing animal models.
- Ensure daily maintenance and care of laboratory mice.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an Animal Health or Veterinary Technology program.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Familiarity with animal care regulations and standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism principles.
- Awareness of the social, economic, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities.
