Job Title: Civil Designer and Contract Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Designer and Contract Administrator to join our team at Interior Dams. As a key member of our design department, you will be responsible for managing the design and contract administration of heavy civil projects, including new dike and dam projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and delegate the drawing of heavy civil construction drawings using Civil 3D
  • Prepare tendering documents with MMCD and/or CCDC
  • Conduct resident engineering (field engineering under direct supervision)
  • Contract administration services and correspondence directly with clients
  • Conduct in-field geotechnical testing and support quality assurance/control work
  • Construction estimating (earthworks and other civil works)
  • Field surveys, inspections, and general data collection
  • Provide civil engineering design support and design for water resource and earthworks projects
Requirements:
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, independent, and contract administration experience
  • Demonstrated on-site civil construction or resident engineering experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in Civil3D
  • Basic proficiency with GIS software (QGIS or ArcGIS, etc)
  • Understanding of geotechnical, hydrological, and fluid dynamics principles
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site
  • Physical capability to hike or carry equipment as required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaison with clients, contractors, and government
  • BC Class 5 driver's license and a vehicle
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering or Geoscience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCA designation
  • Knowledge of Water Sustainability Act and experience with instream projects
  • Experience with survey equipment, drones, and bathymetric surveys
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to self-teach from textbooks, online resources, technical bulletins, etc
