About the Role

The Commercial Mortgage Underwriter will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of commercial mortgage applications. This includes reviewing credit documentation, assessing credit risk, and making recommendations in compliance with established policies and underwriting procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure timely completion of renewals, assumptions, and ad-hoc requests
  • Assess credit risk and make recommendations in compliance with established policies and underwriting procedures
  • Manage deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines
  • Prepare and manage various reports, including Maturity Reporting
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business or finance
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset
  • Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 2-4 years' commercial mortgage experience
  • Sound technical knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel)
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
