Electrical Design Specialist

Powell Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Specialist to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our Electrical Division, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various projects. Your expertise in electrical design software and ability to collaborate effectively will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for electrical switchgear, motor control, and power control rooms.
  • Design custom/semi-custom products to meet customer electrical specifications.
  • Produce print-to-point wiring diagrams from control schemes.
  • Check wiring diagrams and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and drafters.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience in an Engineering/Designing role.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of electrical design software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members.
Working Conditions:
  • Sit in a semi-enclosed space to perform work occasionally.
  • Work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
  • Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling.
  • Continuous standing, walking, and lifting metal sheets up to 50lbs.
  • Typing, punching, or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palms.
