About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Assistant to join our team at Caterpillars Child Care. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Collaborate with our early childhood educators to design and implement engaging child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs of our children.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the daycare equipment is well-maintained and safe for our children to use.
  • Support to Educators: Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Record Keeping: Assist educators or supervisors in maintaining accurate records of children's progress.
  • Engagement and Activities: Engage children in various activities, such as storytelling, singing, and craft preparation, to promote their cognitive and creative development.
  • Guidance and Support: Provide guidance and support to children in developing essential life skills, including eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Observations and Progress Reports: Submit written observations on children's progress to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • Staff Meetings: Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and any challenges they may be facing.
  • Collaboration and Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and community service providers working with children.
  • Environment and Safety: Plan and maintain a safe and healthy environment that promotes the well-being of our children.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certifications and Training: Possess certifications in Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR, as well as a First Aid Certificate.
  • Security and Safety: Have undergone a criminal record check.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Be able to perform repetitive tasks, work in a physically demanding environment, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate punctuality, flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude, with the ability to multitask and be creative in your work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in a child care setting is an asset.
