Composite Tooling Technician

The Composite Tooling Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that all tooling is ready for production, which includes masters, molds, jigs, fixtures, templates, and production aids. This position involves making recommendations for safety improvements, cost-saving measures, and new tooling projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the surfaces of layup tools through processes such as sanding and sealing.
  • Replace Tool Tec and components as necessary.
  • Adhere to PM work orders and production requirements for tooling upkeep.
  • Update tooling information and schedules within the PM program.
  • Engage in tooling design reviews for outsourced projects.
  • Support new product introductions to align with manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a technical field, preferably with an aerospace or automotive focus.
  • Hands-on experience with composite assembly, bonding, core cutting, autoclaves, curing ovens, thermal presses, and more.
  • Familiarity with composite layup, vacuum bagging techniques, part surface preparation, and painting.
  • Skills in metal and wood working, pattern making, and the application of 5S principles.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Service-oriented mindset with mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
