Job Title: Forklift Operator

At Scotts Miracle-Gro, we're looking for a skilled Forklift Operator to join our Canada Supply Chain team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), front-end loaders, and other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, and prepare organic mixes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, front-end loader, or other power equipment.
  • Prepare organic mixes.
  • Push or relocate piles to ensure segregation of materials.
  • Supply production with a continuous stock of material.
  • Monitor stockpiles for excessive heat, turn stockpiles, and extinguish small fires.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
  • Report quality variances.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the PIT or other equipment.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Must have at least one year of experience operating a PIT or other heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to do basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, and dividing.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be able to complete the pre-shift inspection forms.
  • Must be available to work multiple shifts.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety.
