Job Overview: Aquatic Safety Supervisor
The City of Whitehorse is looking for dedicated Aquatic Safety Supervisors to enhance our team. The selected candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of all pool patrons, providing emergency first aid when necessary, and supporting various aquatic events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee pool activities, enforce safety regulations, and react promptly to emergencies
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of pool facilities and equipment
- Manage inventory and ensure supplies are adequately stocked
- Perform water quality tests and maintain accurate records
- Help coordinate aquatic programs and events
- Participate in ongoing training and development sessions
- Assume the role of Head Guard when designated
- Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned
Work Environment:
Candidates should be prepared for exposure to varying noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and humidity.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum age of 16 years or completion of Grade 10
- Previous lifeguarding experience is an asset
- Valid National Lifeguard Pool Certification (NL)
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification
- WHMIS certification is required
- Successful completion of an RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check
- A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered
