Your Role

Reporting to the Energy Business Line Sector Leader, the Power Delivery Sector Executive will spearhead growth and opportunity development across North America's Power Delivery Sector. This role requires close collaboration with Energy Sector Leaders, Regional Business Leaders, and various operational leaders to identify and cultivate project opportunities while devising effective strategies through a comprehensive understanding of the power delivery landscape, client needs, and competitive dynamics.

As the sector expert, you will assist business centers in forming teams to achieve results and support anticipated growth. You will maintain a keen awareness of market trends, technologies, and services impacting the power delivery sector.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Establishing the vision and strategic priorities for North American power delivery teams, documented through a detailed annual business plan outlining key clients, revenue goals, marketing strategies, and performance indicators.
  2. Identifying and nurturing relationships with key clients in the power delivery sector, including public and private electric utilities, developers, and energy firms, to drive account management excellence.
  3. Building partnerships with subcontractors and construction entities to ensure sustainable growth in the North American power delivery market.
  4. Monitoring market trends and service offerings essential for ongoing growth in the sector, collaborating with business centers to forecast demand for both existing and new services.
  5. Collaborating with regional business centers and project teams to sustain and enhance sector revenue and sales while achieving operational performance metrics.
  6. Engaging in business development pursuits, including leading proposal development and commercial interviews.
  7. Facilitating partnerships among business developers and functional teams.
  8. Participating in achieving health, safety, security, and environmental goals as well as utilization targets.
  9. Working with sector teams to support and drive business development initiatives.
  10. Maintaining up-to-date business reports and ensuring timely updates of project pipeline records.
  11. Driving sector marketing and business development plans in collaboration with leadership.
  12. Reviewing and facilitating approvals for proposals and contracts in accordance with company policies.
  13. Developing and sustaining industry relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and potential recruits.
  14. Conducting client surveys to gather feedback and develop action plans for improvement.
  15. Attending relevant conferences and maintaining active industry memberships.
  16. Supporting recruitment efforts to build the sector team.

People Management

  1. Coaching and mentoring a team of professionals dedicated to expanding our Energy business and enhancing Stantec's market presence.
  2. Supporting annual reviews of team members contributing to sector pursuits.
  3. Facilitating the development of succession plans within the sector.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  1. Proven leadership skills to engage and motivate teams.
  2. Experience in project delivery with a diverse and geographically dispersed client base.
  3. Knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering services related to power projects.
  4. Background in business development, proposal, and budget management.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  6. Strong industry network.
  7. Willingness to travel as needed.
  8. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing engineering design and construction services within the Power Delivery Sector, with a preference for candidates with extensive knowledge in transmission and distribution lines, system studies, substations, HVDC or EHV, and protection and controls.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required. A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
