What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Agile Project Leader within RBC's Insurance Technology division, you will spearhead and contribute to pivotal technology initiatives by leveraging RBC's agile framework, adept stakeholder engagement, and governance proficiency to achieve program objectives. We seek a strategic visionary and dedicated agile project management advocate to assist the leadership team in executing data and digital strategies.

In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will bring robust project management skills and extensive experience as a Scrum Master, alongside exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, a strong work ethic, and a proven capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role necessitates strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, complemented by a proactive approach to adapt to shifting priorities. A positive demeanor and a commitment to accountability for outcomes are essential.

You will be responsible for the effectiveness of SCRUM teams and will guide the team in implementing agile practices and policies. This includes leading, mentoring, and coaching colleagues throughout the organization on the adoption of the Scrum framework and the application of lean principles.

You will engage with stakeholders to swiftly grasp business objectives and project concepts, guiding the team towards the successful incremental delivery of value-driven solutions. Your oversight will extend to managing each SCRUM deliverable, including vendor-related outputs, ensuring quality and completion. You will operate with minimal supervision and full accountability, directing efforts and resolving incidental issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a consistent application of Agile Leadership Capabilities through effective stakeholder management, team leadership, and oversight of internal and external dependencies.
  • Engage in quarterly planning sessions, establish JIRA boards for program increments, manage scrum of scrums, eliminate obstacles, and facilitate sprint ceremonies across multiple teams.
  • Exhibit strong Project Delivery Excellence by maintaining effective project governance routines, facilitating meetings and ceremonies in alignment with RBC's agile framework, ensuring clear and timely communication across project deliverables, including financial management and understanding of benefits and outcomes.
  • Utilize effective Schedule Management skills to estimate and sequence project tasks, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with desired outcomes.
  • Maintain effective Risk & Issue Management by proactively identifying, documenting, and managing risks and issues with clear mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in SAFe agile delivery and project management.
  • Undergraduate degree with Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Advanced project management skills, including planning, scheduling, metrics analysis, risk assessment, and financial management.
  • General management capabilities, including negotiation, communication, and team building.
  • Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Certified Scrum Master and Certified SAFe Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation.
  • Exposure to diverse environments (Cloud, distributed systems, business workflows, APIs, databases).
  • Ability to influence at the Senior Leadership level.
  • Knowledge of the Insurance sector.
  • Proven experience managing projects involving third-party vendors and significant technology components.
