Reporting directly to the Head of Machine Learning, you will play a crucial role in the internal testing, validation, and acceptance processes that are essential to our goal of achieving human-like intelligence in versatile robots.
The Test Systems Engineer will take on the critical task of aiding in the construction, evolution, and enhancement of a system that supports Sanctuary's mission. You will acquire an in-depth understanding of our current systems and testing methodologies, iterating to enhance our software testing, integration, and the realization of our robotic hardware platform.
The ideal candidate for the Test Systems Engineer position has a background in designing and executing test programs for complex, networked technological systems. This encompasses systems that integrate hardware, software, and AI/ML technologies, similar to those utilized in autonomous vehicles, drones, mobile robotics, or advanced aerospace systems.
In this role, you will oversee test execution and validation aligned with our workflow testing protocols for all components across the robotic system. You will establish procedures and automation to facilitate these tests, maximizing scalable testing efficiency. A demonstrated background in Systems Engineering will enable you to excel in this position.
Success Criteria
- Bring practical experience in implementing, documenting, and maintaining testing solutions and lifecycles for intricate technological systems that involve both hardware and software.
- Gain cutting-edge experience with product-level testing and validation aimed at delivering the world's first human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots.
- Achieve visibility across the organization as you collaborate with leaders to ensure product-level requirements are met, continually advancing the system's capabilities.
- Expand your expertise as you develop a user-level comprehension of advanced robotics and human-like intelligence systems.
Your Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, etc.) or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience with software-driven hardware systems.
- Experience in developing and executing test scenarios and supporting data collection.
- Proven capability in scripting and process automation for repeatable testing.
- Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment, including research scientists, hardware, electrical, and software engineers.
- Experience with big data, noisy data, and nondeterministic systems, along with an understanding of data quality.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, JavaScript, or similar.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL, etc.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn.
- Exposure to testing frameworks and libraries such as Selenium, Serenity, Robot, or similar.
- Familiarity with electromechanical systems, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and/or industrial automation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and process documentation skills.
