Position Overview

As a Residential Risk Assessment Specialist, your primary role involves evaluating residential properties to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards or structural issues. You will conduct assessments on behalf of insurance providers and offer recommendations for loss prevention to mitigate risks associated with fire, crime, and liability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate appointments with clients to conduct visual property assessments (approximately 10% of your time).
  2. Travel to various properties to evaluate risk factors (approximately 50% of your time).
  3. During property tours, capture photographs, measure rooms and structures, and examine features such as fire safety systems, heating units, and fuel storage.
  4. Evaluate building construction, electrical systems, heating installations, and plumbing to ensure compliance with relevant codes.
  5. Identify and document structural deficiencies, fire risks, and other safety concerns.
  6. Engage with property owners to gather historical information about the property and address any inquiries they may have.
  7. Compile comprehensive reports using internal systems that detail construction specifics, risk evaluations, and estimated replacement costs (approximately 40% of your time).

  2. Contribute to the overall revenue objectives of the team.

Qualifications
  1. A background in insurance, construction, home inspections, real estate appraisals, or engineering is essential for recognizing construction and equipment details (College diploma or bachelor's degree).
  2. Experience with building codes, residential construction, restoration, or home inspection is required.
  3. Familiarity with sketching software such as Rapid Sketch and Apex is advantageous.
  4. Experience in underwriting assessment or the insurance sector is preferred.
  5. Proficient computer skills, including database management, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing, are crucial for efficient report generation.
  6. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is mandatory.
