Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Mission Assurance Director to join our Telesat Lightspeed team. As a key member of our program delivery team, you will be responsible for coordinating all program Mission Assurance activities, planning and managing the Telesat Lightspeed Mission Assurance Organization, and developing and maintaining a system for managing processes critical to Mission Success.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide Vision and Leadership: Develop and communicate a clear vision of how the program will achieve Mission Success, and provide strategic guidance to the team.
  • Process Implementation and Oversight: Drive implementation and oversee execution of processes to ensure Telesat Lightspeed system Mission Success, working across the Telesat Lightspeed segment organizations.
  • Process Management and Communication: Develop and maintain a system for communicating, managing, and linking processes, and work with the Sr. Manager, Lightspeed Program Delivery to provide training on processes.
  • Communications and Risk Management: Develop and advise senior management on communications related to Mission Assurance, and work with the Director, Lightspeed Program Management Office to ensure effective Risk Management.
  • Program Quality Processes: Administer program quality processes, including Quality and Nonconformity Reporting and Disposition, Corrective and Preventive Action, Software Assurance, Operations Quality, Independent reviews, audits, and investigations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering Management is preferable.
  • Experience: At least 15 years' experience in engineering development involving both hardware and software, preferably working in communications or satellites, and at least 5 years' experience as a manager with Mission Assurance experience.
  • Skills: Ability to assess technical status and issues in hardware, software, and operations, expertise in failure and anomaly investigation, corrective action, preventive action, and continuous improvement, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to convey status and issues clearly, concisely and accurately, and strong organizational skills.
  • Tools and Technologies: High-level of expertise with Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Project, Word, Visio and PowerPoint, and Atlassian tools: Jira, Confluence.
Working Conditions
  • Office Environment: General office environments, full-time office, and occasional travel, including international travel.
  • Security Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain relevant security clearance.
