The Opportunity: Deputy Fire Chief

Reporting directly to the Chief of Fire, the Deputy Fire Chief plays a vital role in planning, coordinating, and directing the operations of TBFR. This leadership position demands strategic vision, operational expertise, and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily TBFR operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and effective response to emergencies. Evaluate employee performance and oversee emergency operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Policy Development & Implementation: Collaborate with the Chief in developing, administering, and maintaining TBFR policies and procedures aligned with corporate objectives. Contribute to short-term and long-term strategic planning, shaping the future direction of fire protection services.
  • Financial Management: Participate in the development and administration of the annual operating budget for TBFR. Contribute to capital budget planning and procurement processes, ensuring responsible financial stewardship.
  • Community Engagement: Represent TBFR at Council/Committee meetings, public hearings, and community events. Prepare reports, letters, and presentations, effectively communicating TBFR's mission and achievements.
