Role Overview:

The Senior Estimation Manager will report directly to the Ontario Pre-Construction Director and will possess extensive knowledge in conceptual estimating, budgeting, tendering, proposal submission, and construction methodologies. This role includes overseeing the estimating teams for buildings, large projects, and transit, while receiving mentorship from the Director to enhance leadership capabilities and strategic pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee bidding and pre-construction estimating, ensuring financial outcomes align with the Director's objectives.
  2. Conduct thorough project scope reviews to guarantee the completeness of estimates, ensuring all technical specifications, subcontractor scopes, and general conditions are accurately quantified and priced.
  3. Identify and establish constructability requirements for high-level budgeting and orders of magnitude.
  4. Recommend and approve strategies for project risk management and cost mitigation, as well as identify potential project opportunities and savings.
  5. Develop and endorse bid strategies, constructability requirements, and innovative approaches to enhance bidding success.
  6. Prepare and coordinate estimates as necessary.
  7. Compile and monitor analytics related to project estimating efforts.
  8. Manage, train, and mentor other estimators, ensuring the profitability of estimated projects.
  9. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring in planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and training estimating personnel.
  10. Foster a culture of coaching and mentoring within the estimating team.
  11. Review all estimates, including detailed evaluations of team members' work.
  12. Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders that reflect and support Graham's core values and brand image.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. A completed University degree (Bachelor) that provides a comprehensive understanding of complex concepts and procedures; certifications such as Gold Seal, LEED, LEAN experience, MRICS, and CIQS are advantageous.
  2. A minimum of 20 years of combined field and estimating experience, including at least 5 years in a senior estimating role (Estimating Manager) with a medium-to-large General Contractor.
  3. Leadership experience in ICI-related projects.
  4. Proven track record in leading projects valued at over $100 million and managing and mentoring an estimating team.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead and cultivate a high-performing team.
  6. Strong understanding and proficiency in design-build, IPD, and Construction Management methodologies are beneficial.
