Job Summary:
Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned clients
- Conduct physical and psychosocial assessments, monitor medical and psychiatric conditions, and provide psycho-education to individuals and their support systems
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document psycho-social rehabilitative plans in collaboration with clients' support systems and interdisciplinary team members
- Facilitate individual and group treatment using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods
- Provide individual supportive counseling to clients and families in accordance with approved treatment methods
- Actively participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the Unit
- Collect information from various sources using skills of observation, communication, and physical assessment to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care
- Communicate and consult with members of the healthcare team about clients' care; set priorities, assign, and delegate tasks to support staff
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
- One year recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- May require completion of a substance use certificate program
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions, including crisis intervention
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment
- Working knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects)
