Mental Health Nurse

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality mental health care services to patients in need. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned clients, while promoting person-centered care and recovery-oriented approaches.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical and psychosocial needs, identifying actual or potential problems and strengths through nursing diagnosis.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate psycho-social rehabilitative plans in collaboration with clients' support systems and interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide individual and group treatment, using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods, as well as individual supportive counseling.
- Facilitate life skills training and respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies, while promoting a safe environment for clients, families, and staff.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members, advocating for clients' rights and promoting cooperation among team members.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year of recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented approaches.
