POSITION SUMMARY

We are in search of a passionate and seasoned Chief Executive Officer to guide Coverdale Justice Society and report directly to the board of directors. The CEO will supervise the leadership team, which includes multiple direct reports, manage financial resources, and play a crucial role in funding oversight and securing new financial opportunities to ensure the sustainability of Coverdale's initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with both governmental and non-governmental funders to further the organization's mission. Additional key responsibilities encompass program development and administration, optimizing the use of organizational finances, personnel, and resources. This individual will also provide financial stewardship by overseeing budgets and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Direct the formulation and execution of strategic and annual plans in partnership with the board and key stakeholders.
  • Safeguard Coverdale Justice Society's reputation and brand by cultivating relationships with partners, donors, and community members.
  • Empower staff and volunteers by promoting a positive organizational culture aligned with our mission and values.

Staff Management

  • Ensure equitable compensation, clear job descriptions, and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a work environment that encourages job satisfaction, fairness, and a sense of belonging.
  • Address conflicts constructively and promote a culture of learning and growth.

External Communications

  • Act as a primary spokesperson for Coverdale Justice Society, representing the organization in public forums and media.
  • Develop and implement an external communications strategy to engage key stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Oversee the organization's online presence through various platforms.

Board Collaboration

  • Provide regular updates to the board regarding financial performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Administer the organization's funds according to the approved budget, recognizing it may be flexible with board approval.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the board chair and members, offering strategic insights and guidance.
  • Advise the board on emerging trends and potential risks that may affect the organization.

Advocacy and Fundraising

  • Promote Coverdale Justice Society's mission and advocate for systemic change within the justice system.
  • Establish strong donor relationships and secure funding to support the organization's programs and initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, ideally within the non-profit or social services sector.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as community services, social work, counseling, psychology, criminology, or law.
  • Proven capability to develop and implement strategic plans in complex and evolving environments.
  • Strong commitment to social justice, equity, and systemic change.
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Excellent skills in external communications and relationship building with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with boards of directors and providing strategic counsel.
  • Financial literacy, including budgeting, reporting, and asset management.
  • Successful history in fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Experience managing a network of member organizations or similar entities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity required for using desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Overtime may be necessary.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check, dated within the last 6 months.

EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE

  • Salary: $75,000-$85,000
  • Benefits: Health and wellness package and opportunities for professional development.
