About the Role
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Wind Service Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our wind turbines, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to the growth and success of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide site-level support to the Site Manager, ensuring the efficient operation of wind turbines and resolving any technical issues that may arise.
- Report any health, safety, and environmental (HSE) violations to the Site Manager immediately, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Drive continuous process improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct training assessments, both technical and non-technical, to ensure that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Support the Site Manager in performance reviews for technicians, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them grow and develop in their roles.
- Perform service and maintenance tasks on wind turbines, ensuring that they are operating at optimal levels and meeting customer expectations.
- Troubleshoot errors on wind turbines, using your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
- Prepare a plan of the day (POD) and assign tasks to the team, working closely with the Site Manager to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Ensure that the site-level team is working safely, performing tasks according to work instructions, and working efficiently to meet customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing them with timely and accurate information about their wind turbines and any issues that may arise.
- Perform downtime allocations as per the contract, as directed by the Site Manager, to ensure that customers receive the service they expect.
- Submit all required documentation, including service checklists, DM/upgrade documentation, work orders, time sheets, and expense reports, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Escalate any human performance concerns to the Site Manager, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Escalate technical issues to the Site Manager or directly communicate with first and second-level support teams, ensuring that any technical issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
- Perform site inventory as required, ensuring that all necessary materials and equipment are available to support wind turbine operations.
- Order consumables and other office supplies, as needed or as directed by the Site Manager, to ensure that the team has the resources they need to perform their duties effectively.
- Ensure that all parts are properly packaged, labeled, and shipped off-site, as required.
- Be self-motivated, able to think quickly and address issues as they arise, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of wind experience with a high school diploma or three plus years of wind experience with an associate's or trade school degree/certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces.
- Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by safety regulations.
- Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions and meet physical demands of the position.
- Must have a clean driving record and pass pre-hire drug screening.
- Management and/or team leadership experience preferred.
- An understanding and commitment to a safe work culture.
- Strong communication skills.
- Conflict resolution experience.
- Contract management experience.
- Relevant work experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting, industrial, or automotive industries.
- SAP experience preferred.
