Staff Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team at CB Canada. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct month-end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
  • Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
  • Participate in special projects and impromptu reporting
  • Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries
  • Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process
  • Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
  • Thorough experience with month-end balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives
  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
  • Extraordinary analytical, quantitative, and social skills
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • 1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • General familiarity with monthly reporting
  • Adeptness in bank reconciliations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capital assets
  • Practical knowledge of year-end audits
  • Collecting payments experience
  • Solid understanding of accounts receivable (AR)
  • Journal entries experience highly desired
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize deals, and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
