Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Support Teacher to join our team at York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in inclusive education and a proven track record of working with students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Plans (SSPs) to support students with exceptional needs
  • Provide professional development and coaching to teachers on inclusive schooling practices
  • Collaborate with school teams to develop and implement behavior support plans
  • Utilize standardized assessment instruments to assess student progress and inform instruction
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in assistive technology and its effective use in inclusive school environments

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience, with a focus on inclusive education
  • Experience working with students with low incidence disabilities and developing IEPs/SSPs
  • Strong knowledge of behavior support plan processes and ability to lead school teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a northern setting
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technology
