Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual for the role of Supply Chain Contract Manager. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Procurement and Supply Chain Management, this position requires expertise in the procurement of complex goods and services to support Telesat's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of corporate policies and procurement processes to minimize risks associated with supply chain management.
  • Independently plan, organize, and oversee supply chain activities related to the procurement of specialized goods and services.
  • Implement compliant acquisition practices that align with program and corporate goals.
  • Manage contractual obligations for assigned vendors, ensuring adherence to all requirements.
  • Conduct supply chain risk assessments and provide expert procurement knowledge to support engineering and project teams.
  • Collaborate with the Legal department to create and implement contract templates, including purchase agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Oversee supplier performance throughout the contract lifecycle, including sourcing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, and closeout.
  • Monitor supplier contracts, organizing stakeholder meetings and managing scope changes.
  • Utilize sound judgment to adapt procedures for addressing complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Identify and communicate risks to stakeholders, recommending strategies for mitigation.
  • Demonstrate effective financial management through budget oversight and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Continuously seek improvements in procurement systems and processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Telesat.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Commerce, Finance, or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain or procurement, preferably in a technology-driven environment with long-term supplier contracts.
  • Professional designation in Procurement (e.g., CSCMP) is a plus.
  • Experience in contract management, drafting, and negotiations.

  • Strong understanding of purchasing ethics and practices.
  • Ability to think critically and resolve complex problems.
  • Effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and results-driven.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
