Job Summary:
This position requires advanced knowledge of customs regulations and trade compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in classifying goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and participating in government agency clearances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare customs entries and forward freight to designated locations, including interface with international and domestic carriers, overseas offices, and importers.
- Prepare customs entries and follow up on the clearance process for all entries prepared.
- Communicate documentation discrepancies to clients and supervisors.
- Coordinate freight delivery to designated locations.
- Resolve finance and accounting reconciliation exchange issues.
- Scan entries into the imaging system, meeting allotted and sensitive time requirements.
- Prepare reports and presentations using various software packages and databases.
- Follow up on documentation discrepancy issues, requiring troubleshooting and effective communication with customers and foreign origins.
- Establish and maintain client relationships.
- Work a weekend schedule on a department rotation basis and holiday schedule based on the needs of the operation and account requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working for a customs broker.
- Knowledge of customs operations, laws, and regulations, and other government departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Customs Broker License - preferred.
- Able to accurately and rapidly enter data.
- Bilingual (French/English).
