Job Summary

The Coat Check Attendant is a key member of the SSMU team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth experience for patrons entering Gerts. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check patrons' identification to ensure age of majority before admittance into the bar area
  • Provide patrons with a visible stamp for entry/re-entry into the bar
  • Receive and manage patrons' belongings in an organized fashion, ensuring accurate coat check tickets are issued
  • Return patrons' belongings upon presentation of their coat check ticket
  • Close and lock the coat check room at the end of the shift, removing any unclaimed belongings and bringing them to the lost and found
  • Assist patrons in navigating the building and provide information on resources and activities available
  • Support events throughout the building, ensuring COVID-19 measures are respected
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and a positive attitude that promotes the SSMU's vision, values, and environment
  • Represent the SSMU brand with passion, confidence, and a positive attitude
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Bar Manager

Requirements

  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Integrity, maturity, honesty, good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Punctuality, organization, responsibility, and friendliness
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and take direction
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Familiarity with the McGill environment is an asset
  • Highly professional attitude and work ethic
  • Proven team player
  • Commitment to adhere to COVID-19 regulations and ability to adapt to new protocols
