Job Summary

The Coat Check Attendant serves as the primary point of entry for patrons entering Gerts, ensuring a seamless experience. This role involves coordinating patrons' entry, coat checking, and closing procedures at the end of the night.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patrons' identification to ensure age of majority before granting access to the bar area.
  • Issue patrons a visible stamp for entry/re-entry into the bar.
  • Receive and manage patrons' belongings in an organized manner, providing a coat check ticket.
  • Return patrons' belongings upon presentation of the coat check ticket.
  • Close and secure the coat check room at the end of the shift, removing unclaimed belongings and bringing them to the lost and found.
  • Assist patrons in navigating the building and provide information on available resources and activities.
  • Support event operations throughout the building, ensuring adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Exhibit integrity, professionalism, and a positive attitude, promoting the SSMU vision and values.
  • Represent the SSMU brand with passion, confidence, and a positive attitude.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Bar Manager.

  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in a high-pressure environment.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  • Integrity, maturity, honesty, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Punctuality, organization, responsibility, and friendliness.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and take direction.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the McGill environment is an asset.
  • Highly professional attitude and work ethic.
  • Proven team player.
  • Commitment to adhering to COVID-19 regulations and adapting to new protocols.

Additional Information:

  • This is a paid position with a competitive rate.
  • The contract dates are from January 3rd to May 31st.
