Join Our Innovative Team as a Wound Care Specialist Nurse
Are you a dedicated and proficient registered nurse (RN) with a focus on wound, ostomy, and continence care, eager to make a significant difference? If so, we invite you to become a part of our forward-thinking VON healthcare team as a Wound Care Specialist Nurse.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Wound Care Specialist Nurse with VON, your advanced skills and expertise will be utilized to conduct thorough wound evaluations, provide ostomy care, and manage continence issues. You may operate in clients' residences or clinical settings, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop tailored care strategies that enhance healing, comfort, and overall quality of life for our clients. You will help address healthcare system challenges through the NSWOC Power of Three; delivering superior care, reducing expenses, and improving patient outcomes.
Experience Job Satisfaction:
- Enhance Client Care Planning and Continuity: Evaluate and educate clients and their families, implement outcome-focused co-designed care plans, and incorporate education, counseling, and discharge planning as necessary to assist individuals in achieving their health objectives.
- Advance Your Clinical Expertise: Support specialized, progressive treatment methods and case management, adhering to established nursing principles that have shown optimal wound and ostomy management and improved client outcomes.

Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the province of practice
- Completion of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada (NSWOCC) WOC-EP program, or;
- International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC), or;
- Master's prepared Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with formal skin and wound care education
- Three years of experience in community or acute care settings focusing on wound care is preferred
- Experience in community and home care is preferred
- Ability to observe and effectively assess clinical issues
- Ability to initiate and support health education
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that facilitate effective engagement with clients, staff, and the public
