Building and Engineering Development Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building and Engineering Development Manager to join our team at the City of Kamloops. As a key member of our Development, Engineering, and Sustainability Department, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of 17 staff in ensuring building permit applications and infrastructure development applications are processed in an effective and efficient manner while complying with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the review and approval of building permit applications and infrastructure development applications.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including the BC Building Code and municipal by-laws.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the development and engineering process.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management and council.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in development and engineering, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Considerable knowledge of the BC Building Code, construction standards, and regulations related to building construction.
- Extensive knowledge of municipal organization, the Local Government Act, Community Charter, municipal by-laws, and case law that pertains to municipal development.
- Competitive salary range: $146,914.95 - $173,000 per year.
