4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled 4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Worker to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing trades duties approaching the journeyman level in various trades areas, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding.
Key Responsibilities- Perform maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment, including mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems such as heating, air handling units, and emergency power systems.
- Operate, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on air handling units, mixing boxes, VAVs, emergency power, and other related equipment.
- Monitor and adjust temperature control systems, pressure, and feed water levels, and record meter and gauge readings to ensure distribution of steam/air heating to designated areas.
- Process individual departmental purchase requests, establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, and recommend repairs and purchases as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
- Two (2) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
