About the Role

Flow Capital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join our investment Origination team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities in high-growth new economy companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective borrowers to discuss investment opportunities
  • Review and analyze business plans and pitch decks to assess investment potential
  • Gather industry information and research potential competitors to target companies
  • Review financial materials and prepare follow-up questions for further meetings
  • Assist in preparing internal investment memorandums and structuring term sheets with prospective borrowers
  • Maintain and support internal databases and tools to improve team efficiency
  • Evaluate new tools and software systems to enhance the origination process
  • Build a network of prospective deal flow sources, including venture capital firms, investment bankers, debt advisors, and lawyers
  • Attend conferences and networking events to stay up-to-date on industry trends
  • Contribute to the development of our marketing strategy to attract new investment opportunities

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in venture debt, venture capital, commercial banking, corporate finance, private investments, or equity research
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing a high volume of transactions as an investor or advisor
  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting, with outstanding academic achievement
  • Solid understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, including proficiency with financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Proactive, highly motivated, and able to work independently
  • Passionate about uncovering the most compelling investment opportunities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
  • Experience in the technology sector or dealing with revenue-stage, small and medium-sized, high-growth companies is an asset
  • Completion of the CFA or CPA programs is an asset
  • Prior sales or origination experience is an asset
  • A wide network within the venture ecosystem in Canada and the US is an asset
