Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary
Dynacare is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process patient specimens, including blood samples, for laboratory testing.
- Enter patient and test information into our database for accurate record-keeping.
- Sort and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections.
- Ensure all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion.
- Contribute to meeting departmental and corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators.
Requirements
- Secondary School diploma and completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
- Excellent customer service skills and a genuine care for patients' health.
- Ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming, and reassuring manner.
- Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables clear communication of instructions to patients.
